Greywater Recycling


Greywater recycling is ideally suited to hotels, student accommodation or large residential blocks due to the nature of their water use supply versus demand equilibrium. The installation of a greywater system is a great alternative to traditional sustainable measures, offering an effective solution with no reliance on rainwater.

The Waterscan Greywater Recycling System captures the water used for showering or bathing and, after specialised filtration, is fed back in to the property for use in non-potable purposes such as flushing toilets, irrigation and laundry. Treatment is such that the membrane provides a fixed barrier to waterborne viruses and pathogens meeting required quality standards.

Rainwater Harvesting

The Enhanced Capital Allowance scheme (ECA) was launched to encourage businesses to invest in water saving and water quality improving technologies.

The Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) scheme for water allows businesses to invest in water-efficient plant and machinery and write the cost off against tax. This can mean savings for the business and a positive effect on the environment irrespective of business size, commercial sector and location.

The Water Technology List was developed by Defra and the Inland Revenue to encourage businesses to save money by investing in technology and products that reduce water use and improve water quality.

Products listed on The Water Technology List must meet predefined water saving criteria. All Waterscan water recycling systems are listed and offer a range of solutions for commercial businesses.

The added benefit of accelerated tax relief on such investments through the Enhanced Capital Allowance Scheme (ECA) underlines the Government’s commitment to the scheme and to helping businesses in the UK reduce water consumption.


Earn your BREEAM credits through water

Building Research Establishment's Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) is the world's leading and most widely used environmental assessment method for buildings, with over 115,000 buildings certified and nearly 700,000 registered.

It sets the standard for best practice in sustainable design and has become the de facto measure used to describe a building’s environmental performance. Credits are awarded in nine categories, one of which is water. Scores are then compiled to produce a single overall score on a scale of Pass, Good, Very Good, Excellent and Outstanding.

As BREEAM is predominantly a design stage assessment it is important to implement details into the design as soon as possible to obtain a higher rating and a more cost effective result.
