Sustainability Leaders Awards 2022 Finalist

Waterscan and the Self-Supply Community Recognised for Outstanding Water Management

Waterscan and the Self-Supply Water Community have been shortlisted for a prestigious edie Sustainability Leaders Award, recognising the business group’s outstanding work on water efficiency.

Now in its 15th year, the world’s largest sustainable business awards scheme champions bold and brilliant climate leadership. From the best net-zero carbon programmes through to cutting-edge product innovations, winning an edie award empowers teams, inspires stakeholders and accelerates sustainable business growth. From hundreds of entries, 135 finalists across 23 categories have been revealed. Winners will be announced in February.

Commenting on this year’s finalists, edie’s Content Director, Luke Nicholls, said: “COP26 underlined just how important business leadership is when it comes to accelerating climate action this decade and beyond – not just within operations but also through new collaborations and sector-wide commitments. Nowhere is this leadership more evident than on the shortlist of edie’s 2022 awards. All of this year’s finalists have shifted from talking about a net-zero carbon, just transition to actually delivering it, at scale and at pace. On behalf of the entire edie team, I would like to congratulate all of our finalists.”

Self-Supply Community

Neil Pendle, Managing Director at Waterscan, added “The companies that Self-Supply their water are the future of water management, today. While many businesses are still concerned with data and how to approach the water market, Self-Supply companies have such actionable insight that they are free to innovate and drive much-needed progress.

“This community outperforms the rest of the UK water market with the highest market performance scores, the lowest level of long-unread meters, a successful smart metering roll-out, substantial collective water reduction and effective customer-focused market engagement. Everything we do, we do accurately and on time, regardless of external complications, such as the pandemic, and I am immensely proud that this effort has been recognised within this prestigious awards setting.”

This announcement follows swiftly on from news of another award win for Waterscan’s work with long-term customer Whitbread at the Footprint Drinks Awards. Here, the partnership scooped the Sustainable Use of Water Award 2021, acknowledging the progress Whitbread has made on water efficiency and building long-term operational resilience with a strategic approach to water management.
