Crown Commercial Services Water Framework Supplier

Waterscan has been awarded a place by Crown Commercial Service for it’s Public Sector Water Framework – RM3790.

Leading independent consultancy and water specialist Waterscan has been announced as one of a select few suppliers pre-approved by the Crown Commercial Service (CCS) to offer ancillary services to the public sector under its new Water, Wastewater and Ancillary Services – RM3790 framework. This framework, which was live on 1st April in line with the opening of the water market, is expected to save the public sector more than £20 million over four years.

Waterscan’s role within the framework agreement will be to support public sector procurement personnel with switching suppliers to optimise benefits arising from the open market. Services include: water footprint assessment, tariff optimisation and benchmarking, water audit site surveys, leak detection and repair, contingency planning, automated meter reading, bill validation and cost recovery.

In a recent survey conducted by the CCS, potential customers – including local authorities, universities, schools, NHS trusts, central government departments, fire service, police and museums – said their highest priorities were to obtain best price, ensure accurate billing, receive excellent customer service and guarantee procurement compliance. 89% of respondents said that access to independent ancillary services would help them to achieve these goals.

Claire Yeates, Director at Waterscan, agrees. She commented: “Switching suppliers always carries risk and our role is to help public sector organisations effectively manage this risk. The key to achieving best value in an open water market is to first obtain accurate data on which to base negotiations and ensure that all avenues for savings are explored. Our Waterline© team has access to the most comprehensive data set for benchmarking and analysis across the whole of the UK.

water usage in public sector“I believe that there are some potentially big savings to be had in the new open market landscape – but these will only be achieved by thinking holistically about the organisation’s approach to water. Switching suppliers may result in an immediate impact but consider what could be achieved by first dealing with billing irregularities, identifying and repairing leaks, benchmarking your organisation’s water footprint against others, setting effective service level agreements and importantly, monitoring ongoing performance.”

Waterscan is uniquely placed to offer all such ancillary services to the public sector. With more than twenty years working exclusively in the field of water management, re-use and procurement strategies, the company’s focus has always been to help organisations reduce water consumption and costs. Certified to ISO 9001 Quality Management System, ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and ISO 22301 Business Continuity Management standards, the company is focused on delivering consistently high quality results for its customers. Prior to the water procurement framework, Waterscan has a track record of success with several councils, schools, universities, healthcare and emergency services.
