Water Recycling

INNOVATIVE WATER REUSE SYSTEMS FOR IMPROVED EFFICIENCY

With an increasing population and more water intensive lifestyles contributing to rising water scarcity, all commercial organisations need to secure a reliable source of water to ensure continual and sustainable business operations. The installation of a tailored water recycling system will reduce potable water use, lower costs and enable businesses to reduce their environmental impact and achieve CSR targets.

Waterscan’s innovative award winning greywater, rainwater and bespoke recycling solutions incorporate cutting edge technology and unique features that deliver unrivalled solutions to end users, architects, consultants and contractors for a wide range of projects.

Our Water Recycling systems are listed on DEFRA’s Water Technology List which means you can claim on the government’s Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) scheme. The ECA programme enables UK businesses to write off the whole cost of capital allowances on investments in environmental technologies against taxable profits for the period during which you make the investment.

Benefits

  • Well designed, tailored solutions which maximise efficiency and return on investment

  • Specialised team offering full operational support from design and supply to installation to maintenance

  • Superior precision engineered components for confidence and reliability

  • Flexible systems based on commercial and technical needs

  • Compliant with best practice BS8525 and BS8515 standards and BREEAM requirements

  • Working in partnership with contractors, consultants, architects and end users delivers the perfect system

  • Systems eligible for The Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) Scheme

  • Service packages available for ongoing end user support

  • Low energy components

A variable speed pump set reduces energy use and running costs by up to 70%. The Waterscan system can produce 1m³ of water using only 1.5 Kw/h, saving on both energy consumption and cost

  • Tank Variations

From HDPE and GRP to concrete tanks, we design the most cost effective and durable solution for your build

  • Submerged membrane bioreactor technology

An ultrafiltration barrier to contamination from source water with no moving parts and ambient pressure operation ensures an excellent operational life with low maintenance and high reliability

  • Optimised aeration

Continuous self-cleaning effect on the membrane surface keeps manual cleaning and maintenance to an absolute minimum

  • Triple redundancy

Tiered backup system to ensure complete integrity of supply, consistency of performance and reduced risk of system failure

  • Optional built-in telemetry

Transmit system data varying from simple water saving information through to live diagnostics which allows for preventative maintenance

  • Noise reduction technology

One of the quietest systems on the market, great for large residential blocks and hotel accommodation

Greywater Recycling

REDUCE MAINS WATER CONSUMPTION BY UP TO 40%

Greywater recycling is ideally suited to hotels, student accommodation or large residential blocks due to the nature of their water use supply versus demand equilibrium. The installation of a greywater system is a great alternative to traditional sustainable measures, offering an effective solution with no reliance on rainwater.

The Waterscan Greywater Recycling System captures the water used for showering or bathing and, after specialised filtration, is fed back in to the property for use in non-potable purposes such as flushing toilets, irrigation and laundry. Treatment is such that the membrane provides a fixed barrier to waterborne viruses and pathogens meeting required quality standards.

Our unparalleled design service enables us to tailor a solution that eliminates financial and spatial barriers and delivers the most cost effective low energy solution for your premises.

Rainwater Harvesting

REDUCE MAINS WATER CONSUMPTION BY UP TO 30%

Rainwater harvesting is ideally suited to retail outlets, distribution centres or large commercial buildings due to the volume of roof area and requirement for water use. Installing a commercial system within a geographical area with both historically high rainfall and high water supply charges will be most beneficial and reduce the payback period.

The Waterscan Rainwater Harvesting Service first assesses your geographic and infrastructure suitability via a few simple questions to provide an accurate system recommendation. Where appropriate, we can design and install a system to collect and filter rainwater, feeding it back into the property through a simple yet robust treatment system. This ensures that only the cleanest water is utilised for non-potable purposes such as vehicle washing, flushing toilets and irrigation

Sustainable Water Products – An Introduction to Water Recycling Technology

Water is increasingly recognised as the next big global environmental challenge.

With security of supply a growing issue, incorporating water sustainability into our built environment can contribute massively to addressing water scarcity issues. Utilising systems and technologies that reuse various forms of water will specifically support this aim by reducing reliance on our local water sources.

Our free one hour seminar provides an important opportunity to learn more about why and where water recycling systems should be used. It is particularly useful for engineering contractors, consultants, architects and commercial water end users. You will learn about system components and best practice, as well as gaining a wider understanding of both rainwater harvesting and greywater recycling.

Learning objectives:

  • Why it’s important to consider reusing water when designing/constructing our built environment

  • The key factors to ensure successful incorporation of these systems, including legislative requirements

  • The common components of existing systems on the market

  • A deeper understanding of greywater and rainwater technology

  • Other potential water reuse ideas

  • Available allowances/support for incorporating water reuse systems

To book a CPD seminar for your organisation, email info@waterscan.com or complete the form below stating ‘CPD’ in the description box.

ECA

ECA tax relief for water recycling equipment

The Enhanced Capital Allowance scheme (ECA) was launched to encourage businesses to invest in water saving and water quality improving technologies.

The Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) scheme for water allows businesses to invest in water-efficient plant and machinery and write the cost off against tax. This can mean savings for the business and a positive effect on the environment irrespective of business size, commercial sector and location.

The ECA scheme covers the purchase, delivery and installation cost of a variety of technologies such as rainwater harvesting and greywater recycling products. Waterscan’s proven water recycling technologies are published on the Water Technology List

To work through a financial example to find out how this could benefit your business, please contact us.

Water Technology List

Save money by investing in water technology

The Water Technology List was developed by Defra and the Inland Revenue to encourage businesses to save money by investing in technology and products that reduce water use and improve water quality.

Products listed on The Water Technology List must meet predefined water saving criteria. All Waterscan water recycling systems are listed and offer a range of solutions for commercial businesses.

The added benefit of accelerated tax relief on such investments through the Enhanced Capital Allowance Scheme (ECA) underlines the Government’s commitment to the scheme and to helping businesses in the UK reduce water consumption.

Breeam

Earn your BREEAM credits through water

Building Research Establishment's Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) is the world's leading and most widely used environmental assessment method for buildings, with over 115,000 buildings certified and nearly 700,000 registered.

It sets the standard for best practice in sustainable design and has become the de facto measure used to describe a building’s environmental performance. Credits are awarded in nine categories, one of which is water. Scores are then compiled to produce a single overall score on a scale of Pass, Good, Very Good, Excellent and Outstanding.

As BREEAM is predominantly a design stage assessment it is important to implement details into the design as soon as possible to obtain a higher rating and a more cost effective result. If you are hoping to secure BREEAM credits on your building project, please contact Waterscan early in the design process so that we can advise you on the best water management systems available to you.
