Waterscan shortlisted as innovators of the year

Waterscan is delighted to announce that its pioneering water self-supply initiative has been shortlisted in The Energy Awards 2017.

Working in partnership with client Greene King, Waterscan’s ground-breaking approach to water supply has been recognised in the Innovation of the Year – Processes and Projects category which is focused on enabling organisations to excel in their field. Evidence of excellence in terms of concept, development and delivery, environmental benefits and the potential for iterative future applications were all pre-requisites for the award entry.

Neil Pendle, Waterscan’s Managing Director, was delighted with the news.  He said: “This is the fifth consecutive year that we have been recognised at this prestigious event which celebrates and recognises intelligent approaches to the UK’s utilities sector. We have always taken a creative and courageous approach to reducing water use for the benefit of both our clients and the environment. Self-supply is a fantastic example of this and we applaud Greene King for being the first to follow this path.”

Director Claire Yeates added: “This project demonstrates true innovation, forging and pursuing a new route to water supply; a route that no one has followed previously. Self-supply allows greater control and transparency of water supply, the opportunity to participate in market development, plus the ability to shape and influence relationships with wholesalers. It also provides a great platform for sustainability and future innovation.”

Greene King, the UK’s leading pub retailer and brewer, embraced the idea and its potential to control their water data, cost and consumption, while realising additional direct and indirect cost savings which could be reinvested in water reduction initiatives and technologies. Hospitality giant Whitbread has recently followed suit.

The Energy Awards 2017 organisers added: “The Energy Awards are the most respected in the industry. This year the quantity and quality of entries was outstanding, so being shortlisted this year is a great achievement.”

The winner will be announced at an event on 6th December at The London Hilton on Park Lane.
